Introduction to Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya
Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya (MKA) was established on 31 January 1938 by Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), the second Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The vision was to create a dedicated organization for the spiritual, moral, and intellectual training of Ahmadi Muslim youth aged 15 to 40. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) envisioned this organization as a means to prepare the next generation for leadership and service to Islam and humanity.
Founding Event of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya
The organization began when ten young men gathered at the residence of respected Sheikh Mahboob Alam Khalid Sahib in Qadian on 31 January 1938. With the permission of Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra), they held elections to appoint office-bearers, resulting in Maulvi Qamaruddin Sahib being chosen as president and Sheikh Mahboob Alam Khalid Sahib as secretary.
Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) officially approved the organization on 4 February 1938, giving it the name “Khuddamul Ahmadiyya.”
“Huzoor took out a blue-coloured lined paper and wrote ‘Khuddamul Ahmadiyya’ with his blessed pen.” – Sheikh Mahboob Alam Khalid Sahib, Tarikh Ahmadiyyat
The Historic Sermon of April 1, 1938
In his sermon delivered on 1 April 1938, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra) emphasized the vital role of youth in the Jama’at’s progress. He discussed the need for focused spiritual and moral training to ensure that the next generation could carry the mantle of leadership and service to Islam.
“Without proper training, one cannot deliver the true message of Islam to the world. This is why I am contemplating a system for the moral and intellectual development of our youth.” – Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra)
Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) excluded scholars and elders from being part of the organization’s leadership, allowing the youth to develop leadership skills and solve problems independently.
“If the elders are allowed to join, only they will be elected, leaving the youth without the opportunity to think on their own.” – Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra)
Key Milestones in the Development of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya
Soon after its establishment, MKA began organizing events and programs focused on moral and spiritual development. In his April 1938 sermon, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) encouraged the formation of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya in regions outside Qadian.
1938: First official meeting and elections in Qadian.
1940s: MKA branches established across India.
Post-Partition (1947 – ): Re-establishment of MKA in Pakistan. Hazrat Musleh Maudra also emphasised that community branches outside of Qadian should also set up Khuddamul Ahmadiyya in their respective regions.
“You should forget that anyone else in Qadian is left for this role. You should understand as if you are the only one who has been tasked with this responsibility, as one cannot call himself a true believer if he implies that this is my role and that is your role. A true believer is not one that chooses his responsibilities”
– Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra)
After the partition of India in 1947, Khuddamul Ahmadiyya played a significant role in re-establishing the Jama’at in Pakistan and expanding its operations globally. By the 1960s, MKA had branches in numerous countries, including the UK, USA, and Africa.
Today, Khuddamul Ahmadiyya operates in hundreds of countries, contributing to both community service and the defense of Islam. From organizing large-scale charity events to participating in international relief efforts, MKA continues to uphold its mission of service to humanity.
Service and Allegiance to Khilafat
One of the core missions of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya is to remain steadfast in its loyalty to Khilafat. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) constantly reminded Khuddam to support Khilafat at all costs, emphasizing the importance of discipline, humility, and hard work in their service.
Legacy of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya
The training provided by MKA continues to mold young individuals into leaders and servants of humanity. Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra)’s vision has come to fruition, as the organization is now one of the most active and influential auxiliary bodies in the Jama’at.
“In reality, such a nation – which arises at the gesture of a hand and sits at the gesture of a hand – shall create a great revolution in the world.”
– Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat
The First Ijtema
The very first Ijtima of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya was held on December 25, 1938 at 3 PM in Masjid Noor in Qadian, India. Addressing the gathering in the very first Ijtima, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) admonished the youth with the following:
- Develop Reverence for Ahmadiyyat in your hearts.
- Establish the substance of steadfastness.
- Make the habit of working hard.
- Refrain from acting upon conjectures and develop steadfastness.
- Develop broad mindedness and acquire a deep familiarity with the current situations.
- Create the spirit of integrity.
- Take part in events relating to the service of mankind.
- Accept and acquire the truth.
- Always have your purpose and goals in front of you.
- Take responsibility for the consequences of your actions.
- If a fault is made, then be ready to accept its repercussions.
- One should understand that the one who annihilates himself for his nation, is not truly annihilated. Until a nation is alive, till then remains true existence. Thus, in comparison to the life of nation, an individual’s sacrifice bears no weight.
- Do not simply reform yourselves, but also reform the environment around you.
- Develop wisdom.
- Create the essence of obedience within yourselves.
- Always keep in mind that the footsteps of the Jama’at must always be towards progress.
In the end, Huzoor[ra] stated that Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya had not made any arrangements for the reformation of the young children and that they should also pay attention towards the reformation of young children and familiarise them with these habits so that when they mature, they can prove to be beneficial for the Jamaat.
These were the blessed words of the founder of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Hazrat Musleh Mau’ud (ra). These were the advices he gave to the youth of the time which incorporate the fundamentals of this Majlis.
